Our School
Community Preschool of Cedar Grove is a New Jersey state-certified preschool, licensed by the state Department of Children and Families.
The school is owned and operated by the Community Church of Cedar Grove and is non-sectarian and nonprofit. It was established in 1948 as a service to Cedar Grove and surrounding communities.
Our Philosophy
Community Preschool of Cedar Grove is a child development and learning center. It provides quality care and education in a safe and stimulating environment conducive to children’s growth and development. The school provides children with educational activities and age-appropriate learning materials that encourage the children’s imagination, creativity and natural learning ability. Our goal is to help prepare them for the academic and social challenges that await them.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon.
The class introduces children to the school environment. Socialization, conflict resolution and sharing with others are key components at this age. The children will have the opportunity to follow directions in a structured setting while learning number and letter recognition, names, colors and shapes, and other skills relating to weekly and monthly themes.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
An extended day may be available.
This is an important time for a 4- to 5-year-old. They are growing so rapidly in many different ways. This class is the bridge leading to kindergarten, and we teach the skills needed for success. Exploring letter sounds, which leads to pre-reading, is very important. We also have activities in math, science and social studies as well as art and music, name writing and the ever-important play time.
